The Heavy Duty Galvanized Woven Gabion Box is a high-strength, flexible structural solution specifically engineered for hydraulic engineering, slope protection, and soil conservation projects. Manufactured from high-tensile, low-carbon steel wire, the mesh is formed through a continuous double-twist mechanical weaving process.
Its unique double-twisted hexagonal structure provides exceptional flexibility and structural integrity, allowing the gabion to accommodate differential settlement or severe water erosion without fracturing. When filled with stone or natural cobbles, the gabion box forms a self-draining, eco-friendly retaining wall or slope lining, offering an ideal engineering solution for riverbank erosion, coastal protection, and landslide prevention.
Exceptional Flexibility & Structural Adaptability
The double-twist hexagonal mesh inherently provides dynamic flexibility. When subjected to foundation deformation, frost heave, or sub-surface scouring, the structure deforms slightly to absorb energy and adapt to terrain shifts without cracking like rigid concrete structures.
High Tensile Strength & Non-Raveling Structure
The mesh wire features a mechanical double-twist with a minimum twist length of 50 mm. Even if an individual wire breaks under extreme stress, the interlocking mesh remains intact, ensuring continuous structural safety during severe environmental conditions.
Superior Self-Draining Permeability
Natural voids between the stone fill allow rapid drainage of pore water pressure behind the wall. This high permeability eliminates hydrostatic pressure buildup—a primary cause of structural failure—while eliminating the need for complex internal drainage piping.
Ecological Integration & Vegetation Growth
Over time, sediment accumulates in the stone voids, providing a nutrient-rich base for plant roots. Vegetation growth locks the mesh into the surrounding soil, further reinforcing slope stability while restoring local ecosystems and blending the engineering structure seamlessly into the landscape.
Cost-Effective & Simplified Installation
Gabion boxes are shipped flat-packed in compact bundles, significantly reducing logistics and storage costs. On-site assembly requires no specialized labor or heavy machinery—units are simply unfolded, wired into shape, filled with locally sourced stone, and laced shut.

To ensure long-term durability across diverse environmental corrosion conditions, multiple coating options are available:
Heavy Galvanized (Zn)
Coated with high-purity zinc up to 300 g/m². Suitable for standard hydraulic projects, inland river training, and non-acidic soil/water conditions, offering excellent cost efficiency.
Galfan Coating (Zn-5%Al-MM / Zn-10%Al-MM)
Utilizes a Zinc-Aluminum alloy coating that provides 2 to 3 times the corrosion resistance of traditional heavy galvanizing. Highly recommended for brackish water, wet-dry cycling, and marine environments.
Galvanized / Galfan + PVC / PE Coating
An additional 0.5 mm thick extruded PVC or PE coating is applied over the galvanized or Galfan wire. This dual-layer protection is designed for extreme exposure to sea salt spray, acidic mine drainage, or heavily polluted industrial waterways, achieving a design life of over 50 years.
River Training & Hydraulic Structures: Protection of riverbanks, weir aprons, channel linings, and scour control around bridge piers.
Slope Stabilization & Retaining Structures: Highway and railway embankment reinforcement, hillside slope stabilization, and earth retention.
Coastal & Port Protection: Breakwaters, seawalls, groin structures, and intertidal erosion barriers.
Culvert & Bridge Abutments: Erosion protection at culvert outlets and bridge abutment aprons.
Unfolding & Shaping: Unpack the flat-folded gabion on a hard, level surface. Stretch out folds and ensure all sides and diaphragms fold up into a precise box shape.
Lacing & Assembly: Bind vertical corners and diaphragm edges using lacing wire or pneumatic C-ring fasteners, wrapping securely around selvedge wires at regular intervals.
Positioning & Alignment: Secure empty gabion units along the designated construction alignment, tying adjacent empty boxes together to form a continuous structural monolith.
Rock Filling: Fill units with hard, durable, weather-resistant stone (stone size should be 1.5 to 2.5 times the mesh opening). Fill in 30 cm lifts, placing internal cross-connecting tie wires at each layer to prevent bulging.
Lid Closing: Level the rock fill slightly above the top edge. Pull the lid panel tight over the filled box and securely lace all perimeter edges and internal diaphragms with binding wire or C-rings.
