The Welded Gabion Defensive Barrier is a modular, earth-filled protective structure engineered for rapid deployment in flood control, erosion management, and perimeter security applications. Based on the proven HESCO bastion design, this welded mesh gabion system combines a collapsible steel wire frame with a heavy-duty geotextile liner, allowing on-site filling with locally available materials such as sand, earth, gravel, or crushed rock.
Unlike traditional sandbag walls, these barriers unfold from flat-packed units into multi-cellular structures that can be joined to form continuous walls of virtually any length. The system requires minimal manpower and no specialized heavy equipment for installation, making it ideal for emergency flood response, coastal erosion protection, and temporary-to-semi-permanent defensive installations.
The welded construction offers superior structural integrity compared to woven gabion alternatives, with each cell functioning as an independent load-bearing unit that collectively forms a robust, permeable, and flexible barrier system.
The following specifications represent standard configurations. Custom dimensions are available upon request.

Rapid Deployment Capability
A 10-meter defensive wall can be assembled by 2 personnel using 1 front-loading machine in approximately 20 minutes. By comparison, an equivalent sandbag wall requires 8 people, 8 hours, and nearly three times the fill material. Units unfold accordion-style from flat-packed transport configuration and are pinned together before filling.
Superior Structural Integrity
Welded mesh construction provides greater dimensional stability and load distribution than woven gabion baskets. Each cell is independently framed, preventing progressive failure and allowing the structure to absorb impact energy through controlled deformation.
Cost-Effective Material Usage
The system utilizes locally available fill materials—sand, earth, gravel, or rubble—eliminating the need for imported or processed fill. Over a 10-year lifecycle, welded gabion barriers can be up to 80% less expensive than equivalent concrete wall solutions.
Corrosion Resistance and Longevity
Hot-dipped galvanized or Galfan-coated steel wire resists rust and environmental degradation. With proper installation, these barriers maintain structural effectiveness for 10–15 years in harsh conditions. The geotextile liner is UV-stabilized and resistant to mold and chemical exposure.
Flexible and Modular Configuration
Individual units can be joined to create straight runs, curves, corners, or stacked configurations for increased height. The system adapts to irregular terrain and can be partially disassembled or extended as requirements change.
Permeable Yet Retentive
The geotextile liner allows water to pass through while retaining solid fill material. This permeability prevents hydrostatic pressure buildup behind the barrier—a critical advantage in flood defense applications where water levels fluctuate.
